2013 Petite Sirah
Dry Creek Valley
750 ml - $32.00
about this wine
Quivira’s Petite Sirah vines are the oldest on our home vineyard, Wine Creek Ranch. The entrenched roots dig deep into the soil and the vines need little water to thrive. This nurtures tiny berries and robust flavors. Petite Sirah’s deep color and natural acidity stand out in this estate-grown bottling. 2013 Petite Sirah is a limited release and showcases the variety’s desirable bold elements with uncommon finesse.
at the winery
Wine Creek Ranch’s Block 9 of Petite Sirah is prolific. Block 9 requires little upkeep and yields a balanced crop year after year. Block 9 is the foundation of the 2013 Petite Sirah. In the bottle, it becomes even more apparent that our Wine Creek Ranch is the ideal conditions to grow Petite Sirah. To best showcase the fruit and terroir, cooperage is no more than medium toast and mixes long air-dried (3-4 years) French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels.
in the glass
A deep, purple color entices and foreshadows the upcoming dark fruit notes. Clean, dark fruit runs the gamut from blackberry, to plum, to bing cherry. Subtle black pepper and baking spice-distinct to Dry Creek Valley’s terroir-add intrigue and complexity. Immediately rich and fullbodied on the palate, 2013 Petite Sirah is complemented by natural acidity. Tannins in 2013 Petite Sirah are firm and perfectly align with the wine’s overall balance.
