Cyber Monday Case -- 4 Varieties of Screwcap Wines
4 Different Varieties in one Case. 3 bottles each of:
Quivira Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc
Pale yellow in color and star bright with a slight green tinge. The nose is filled with floral notes of jasmine, hibiscus and white rose, with lingering aromas of classic lemongrass, nectarine and clementine. On the palate, the Quivira mark of high acidity is balanced out with minerality reminiscent of limestone, topped off by layered flavors of Meyer lemon, Key lime, orange flower water and spring herbs.
Quivira Sonoma County Zinfandel
A luminescent ruby color introduces a nose filled with red cherry, ripe raspberry, classic white pepper, and hints of peach yogurt and rose petal. Flavors center on red and blue fruits, intricately laced alongside refreshing, balanced acidity. It has density and layers of texture, but is not at all heavy. Overall, both a masculine and feminine expression that sits lightly on the palate with fines herbes, blueberry, cherry, and the faintest kiss of oak.
La Follette Los Primeros Chardonnay
A pale yellow color with notes of star jasmine, Bartlett pear and star fruit on the nose. Faint hints of vanilla, toasted marshmallow and grilled lemon linger in the background. In the mouth the pear, star fruit and white flowers persist with the addition of Fuji apple, persimmon with a zippy acidity. Pairs well with mild cheeses and seafood dishes like shrimp scampi or macadamia crusted halibut.
La Follette Los Primeros Pinot Noir
Visually, the wine is a light ruby which fades to delicate pink with a hint of brick red. By sight alone one would think this to be Côte de Beaune rather than California. But the nose has classic Sonoma cherry cola nut and ripe raspberry with bacon fat, sage, white button mushroom and fall leaves.
On the palate, the wine is on the lighter side of medium body and bursts with black cherry and pomegranate. This initial fruit is followed by a brace of acidity with tons of spice followed by black pepper, paprika, sage, tomato leaf and hints of oyster shell.
