2020 Black Boar Zinfandel
Dry Creek Valley
A dual-vineyard estate wine based on the rich, opulent fruit from the dynamic duo of Anderson Ranch and Wine Creek Ranch. The wines name was inspired by the wild boars that are apt to roam our hillside vineyards who simply can't resist our tasty fruit. They are wild and sauvage like our impeccable, bold Zinfandel.
THE WINE
The color hints at an older wine with a garnet center which fades to a brick red rim. But the nose is youthful with lots of blueberries, blackberries, currant and black pepper. Sage dominates the herbal notes with a touch of roasted tomato. The palate has powdery tannin and acidity up front that is quickly overtaken by waves of dark fruit flavors. Blackberry and Blueberries covered in fall spices of mace, coriander and hints of cinnamon. If you can wait, at the back of the long finish will pop up wisps bright Bing Cherry. This wine evokes thoughts of Trippa alla Toscana or Cassoulet on cold nights with a fire in the hearth.
