Wine Creek Ranch, Dry Creek Valley
750 ml - $34.00
Delivering a signature white Rhône blend from Quivira’s Wine Creek Ranch is a labor of love. Roussanne may be one of the most diffi cult white varieties to grow. It is the Goldilocks of grapes; we need to expose Roussanne’s reddishbrown berries to the just the right amount of sun. This Rhône-inspired mélange melds two rather assertive varieties into an expressive wine revealing beautiful aromatics and texture.
Roussanne can be a prodigious producer, but it is susceptible to the Dry Creek sun. Thus, Quivira’s winegrowing team precisely manicures the vines’ canopy throughout the year. Exposing the Roussanne clusters to the exact right speckling of sunlight is a balancing act that delivers exotic aromas and Mediterranean spice notes to the wine.
2015 Roussanne-Viognier is immediately forward and aromatic with notes of orange blossom, lime, pineapple, vanilla, and dried hay ally vying for attention. The multi-layered nose is carried onto the palate where fresh tropical and stone fruit fl avors are interwoven with accents of baking spice and wet stone. The texture balances a rich, viscous mid-palate with racy, crisp, refreshing natural acidity for an engaging and compelling tension draws you back for more.
