2016 Quivira Collection Sauvignon Blanc
Wine Creek Ranch

Formerly known as Refuge, the unique character of this estate-grown Sauvignon Blanc necessitated a special label in order to share the qualities of site and attention to detail in the cellar. The contrast between the rich texture and racy, brisk acidity is a defining quality of this wine, keeping everything lively, bright, and fresh while allowing the concentration to be almost weightless.
The return of cooler weather on the 1st of September 2016 allowed us to pick Wine Creeks Sauvignon Blanc over four weeks, capturing a spectrum of varietal flavor. Great aromatic intensity and purity, accompanied by an uncommon layered
and seamless texture, are the hallmarks of the vintage.
Aromas of just ripe pineapple, melon, and mixed citrus are front-and-center, with more subtle notes of white peach and nectarine layered within. Floral and spicy elements from both French oak and Acacia cooperage add a complementary counterpoint to the intense fruit and lead into a wonderful crème brulee character on the palate indicative of the reductive handling this wine sees to minimize exposure to oxygen and promote the cleanest, purest expression and longest aging potential. The finish is mouthwatering, clean, and seductively long.
