Dry Creek Valley

about this wine
Quivira Vineyards offers an exclusive bottling inspired by the great reds of central Italy - Chianti, Brunello, and Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. The characteristics of each varietal are magnified in Dry Creek Valley terroir. Suave Sangiovese is blended with the more rustic and earthy Montepulciano. This is always an anticipated release that is completely unique to Quivira.
at the winery
A small patch of Montepulciano is planted on our Wine Creek Estate, and this central Italian variety has adapted wonderfully to the terroir. Montepulciano truly looks like it belongs in Quivira’s Mediterranean climate. The shoots naturally stop growing at the right length at the right time, the grapes ripen with a perfect balance of sugar and acid. The Sangiovese is grown along a dramatic southeast-facing terrace along Mountain View Ranch Road, one of the best red wines areas of Dry Creek Valley.
in the glass
Velvety and noble Sangiovese is complemented by our estate-grown Montepulicano’s boldness. Subtle notes of anise, cedar, and pencil shaving pleasantly accent the fruit and spice, tying everything together in a complex, yet fruit-driven profile. Electric red and dark cherry aromas leap from the glass in the forward nose. The Italian roots in this wine sing more clearly in this vintage than ever
